A large aspect of preparing the children for the future outside of NPH is providing them with a quality education from pre-primary to middle school. When our children reach middle school, they are required to participate in vocational workshops certified by the trade organization INTECAP. If they choose to not pursue higher education, their workshop certificate, skills and knowledge can then help them secure employment.
More than 175 children have received their baker certification since 2007, and an additional 30 students will participate in this workshop during the 10-month school year in 2017.
During the workshop, the students learn how to make different types of bread, pastries, cakes and decorations. They also learn to work with food in a professional way using hygienic processes.
The bakery workshop is a project that has presented a great benefit to the students, including a path to attaining job opportunities. Most young people who completed one year of study have worked during school breaks in nearby bakeries.
Your support can help these young adults who may not otherwise have the opportunity to attend daily bakery workshop classes, thus providing them with a better future. You can help them achieve their goals of gaining the tangible skills that they may employ when searching for a job in the future.
